Legislation to Curb Abusive ADA Lawsuits Introduced

Along with Congressmen David Jolly and Doug Collins, Wednesday I introduced H.R. 3765, The ADA Education and Reform Act of 2015. This legislation will curb frivolous lawsuits filed by cash-hungry attorneys and plaintiffs that abuse the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act). Alleged Road Rage on New Mexico Highway Leaves Child Dead and Man in Jail

Issues: 

An apparent road rage incident on an interstate highway in Albuquerque, New Mexico, escalated to a shooting that killed a 4-year-old girl. A suspect in the shooting was arrested the following day and remains in custody on a litany of charges and a $650,000 cash only bond. Cornyn-Backed Criminal Justice Reform Bill Passes Committee

Judiciary Committee approves bill based off successful reforms in Texas

The Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act a bipartisan criminal justice reform bill he cosponsored that passed the Judiciary Committee on a 15-5 vote. The legislation, largely based on the CORRECTIONS Act Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse and I introduced earlier this year, builds on successful reforms implemented in Texas that reduced crime and saved taxpayers more than $2 billion. Hillary Clinton Lacks Truthfulness in Recent Hearing

Last week, the House Select Committee on Benghazi interviewed former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on what she knew about the attacks that killed four Americans in Libya in 2012. The hearing comes more than three years after the death of U.S. Ambassador to Libya John Christopher Stevens, U.S. Foreign Service Information Management Officer Sean Smith and two CIA contractors, Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty. West Texan Jay Leeson takes an in-depth look at how the far right has come to dominate many rural areas that have benefited from good government investment. He argues that “the more you vote against your place the less you have to come home to.”

Issues: 

A place carries a continuity of knowledge and passes it from generation to generation. How the place works, what makes it turn.

When there’s disruption in this continuity, learning transpires by costly lessons of what the place will and will not tolerate.
