Rep. Roy statement on H.R. 4366

Representative Chip Roy (R-TX-21) issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 4366:

"I voted yes on H.R. 4366, which provides FY24 appropriations to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and military construction projects.

While not perfect, the bill makes massive strides in restoring the VA's focus toward its core mission — providing care to the men and women that risked their lives for this nation — and away from the Biden Administration's effort to turn every government agency into a leftist propaganda outlet at war with core values of the American people.

Importantly, the underlying bill banned taxpayer dollars from funding 'gender-affirming care at the VA and defunded divisive DEI policies. The House also adopted an amendment to protect veterans' second amendment rights, as well as my amendments to finally eliminate Biden's unscientific vaccine mandatesto defund the climate agenda at the VA, and to keep President Lincoln's words as the VA mission statement, despite the demands of the woke mob.

Veterans deserve to have the quality care and benefits that they have earned — free from radical social engineering — and this bill takes critical steps in that direction."
