McCaul Votes to Support Our Veterans

Congressman Michael McCaul (R-Texas) voted to pass the Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill. This bill fully funds veterans’ benefits, VA programs, and bolsters our national security.

“As the son of a World War II B-17 bombardier, I am proud to vote for this critical appropriations bill that will support our veterans,” said Rep. McCaul. “One of our greatest responsibilities is caring for our nation's veterans. We must ensure that those who serve our country have the resources they need to provide for themselves and their families. I will always honor my commitment to our veterans while bolstering U.S. national security.”

Background:

The Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill includes funding for the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and related agencies. Specifically, it:

  • Fully funds veterans’ health care programs, benefits, and VA programs;
  • Bolsters national security by providing robust funding for construction projects in the Indo-Pacific region;
  • Maintains the prohibitions on the closure of Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, Cuba and the use of military construction funds to build facilities for detainees on U.S. soil; and
  • Reaffirms the political limits outlined in the Hatch Act, particularly those of lobbying Congress and using official resources for political purposes.
