Rep. Roy's statement on H.R. 3391 and H.R. 3838
Rep. Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statements regarding Wednesday night's votes:
Yesterday, I voted against H.R. 3391 and H.R. 3838. As a cancer survivor, I firmly belive that fighting childhood cancer and maternal mortality are noble goals worth pursuing. However, these bills would have greenlighted spending more money that we simply don’t have with no offset. We are over $34.4 trillion in debt, with the number increasing another trillion every 100 days now, and on the verge of passing a massive swamp spending deal to make the problem worse.
Furthermore, The money we do actually spend should not go to federal agencies like the NIH, which was complicit in the creation of the COVID-19 virus and the sweeping destruction of American freedoms during the pandemic response.
If we do not start making the difficult choices to turn this around, our country is going to go under.
