9/11 Remembrance: We Will Never Forget
September 11, 2001 is a date that many of us remember vividly. On that day nearly three-thousand individuals perished in one of the most horrific terrorist attacks on U.S. soil.
When we remember this day, we remember the countless American heroes that ran into the crumbling world trade centers, the heroes who helped their colleagues from the wreckage at the Pentagon, and those who fought back in the air on Flight 93. It was on that day we reminded the world what America is made of – we will remain resilient in the face of evil, we will unite for the cause of freedom, and we will eliminate threats to our country. America will not waver.
On this day, we mourn with the families who lost loved ones. We honor those who went overseas to fight terrorism and the thousands of men and women who stood up and agency to thwart future threats to the homeland.
As a former chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, I have seen first-hand our country’s ability to fight the ever-evolving threats we are faced with each day. I am so grateful to the men and women who pledge an oath to secure the homeland.
Today, let us remember the heroes and those who have pledged to keep this country safe. We are forever grateful, and we will never forget.
