Last week the U.S. Commerce Department reported that the U.S. economy slowed dramatically with GDP growing at a disappointing 0.2 percent in the first quarter. In addition, the export of goods and services slowed to 7.2 percent with the export of goods alone slowing to 13.3 percent – the sharpest decline since the Great Recession.
