The Administration Failed to Vet Afghan National Arrested for Attempted Terrorist Attack in U.S.
Last week, U.S. officials arrested Afghan national Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi in Oklahoma for plotting an Election Day terrorist attack — orchestrated by ISIS-K. Tawhedi was brought into the United States in September 2021 during the administration’s chaotic and botched withdrawal from Afghanistan.
And just yesterday, the Biden-Harris administration was caught red-handed when news broke that administration officials failed to thoroughly vet Tawhedi. This is yet another example of how the Biden-Harris administration’s disastrous withdrawal has significantly compromised our national security, as my investigative report revealed last month.
Throughout the last two decades, many Afghan allies courageously helped the U.S. and our troops in the region. In return, the U.S. promised to protect them. When the administration haphazardly brought thousands of Afghans to the US with little to no vetting during their chaotic withdrawal, they not only put American citizens in harm’s way, but they also did a disservice to those Afghans who risked their lives for our country and deserve our protection.
It’s not shocking the administration failed to vet this individual given their failures to thoroughly screen all individuals at our borders. We are seeing the Biden-Harris administration’s failed foreign policies meet their failed border policies in real time, jeopardizing both our national security and the safety of Americans. Americans deserve leaders who will prioritize our nation’s sovereignty and our citizens’ safety.
