Cornyn to Support Budget Control Act of 2011

Today I announced I will support the Budget Control Act of 2011 and released this statement:

Last November the message from the American people was crystal clear: end reckless, out-of-control spending and return fiscal sanity to Washington. The American people made their voices heard, and their impact has been monumental.

In his initial request to raise the debt ceiling, the President insisted on a blank check for more spending, demanded higher taxes on job creators, and shunned the idea of a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. Today this proposal cuts spending, does not raise taxes on Texans, and guarantees a vote on a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution.

This proposal is not perfect, but it is a step in the right direction and I will support it because it serves as an important benchmark towards fundamentally changing the debate in Washington, as the American people asked for last November.

I am very disappointed in your support of this bill.  We want the debt paid not increased.  I do not want 10 years of lowering debt.  I want a cap on the debt and I want it paid down beginning yesterday.  Your support of this bill has lead me to rethink my support of you as my representative.  I don't not believe I can cast my vote for someone who is not willing to take the hard hit to do what is right.  We cannot afford to continue on this path.

You are a fool, Mr. Cornyn, for supporting this bill.  I'm going to work and contribute to defeating you in your next election.

I am writing to inform you that I am very disappointed in your support of the Budget Control Reform Bill.  Specific, drastic cuts should've been guaranteed, not merely hinted at, before a deal was done.  This new "super committee" that will be created is just one more method of more government control over our lives.  Those of you in Congress do not understand what your constituents truly desire.  You are there to represent us, not merely to carry on business as usual.  Unfortunately, this vote will impact my selection and voting for candidates in the future.  Shame on all of you for the mess this country is in, fiscally, morally, socially, and concerning our borders.
