Syria is Not our Fight: Open Letter to the U.S. Congress

Congress:

There are no “good guys” in this one. Nothing there is worth American sons’ and daughters’ blood or American treasure. If the surrounding nations (who arguably are truly at risk here if any are) do not support the action, why should we?

Our brave military is sworn to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. They are not sworn to get in the middle of a civil war in a foreign land where there are no apparent threats to the U.S. Constitution or our U.S. citizens.

Unintended consequences (such as escalation by various parties, including more chemical weapons’ usage) could be devastating to the already degraded stability in the region.

Thus far I have heard ZERO support for this action in Texas, from anyone in either party. If you represent “We the People”, you really have no option other than to vote “nay” on any Syrian war, declared (as it should be under our Constitution), or otherwise.

Additionally, the U.S. is broke, financially. Stealing from our children and grandchildren does not change this reality any more than printing paper fiat currency does.

There is no “win” here.

Please vote no and use your considerable influence to encourage others to do likewise.

Syria is not our fight.

Very truly yours,

Mark
