Obama "Doubling Down" on Governing by Fiat

Recent comments from President Obama and White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest indicate that the White House will continue to bypass Congress and address the humanitarian crisis on our southern border using executive actions:

During a week when the Supreme Court unanimously rebuked the President’s overreach, you would think he would show some humility and work with Congress on a solution to the crisis on the border, one that he created. Sadly, he appears to be doubling down on his efforts to govern by fiat.

Obama Calls Boehner Lawsuit Threat a 'Stunt':

Despite Republican House Speaker John Boehner’s threat this week to sue President Obama over his use of executive orders, the president refused to apologize for his actions during an exclusive interview with ABC News and took the Republican Party to task for what he described as its attempt to interfere with the basic functions of government... "You're going to squawk if I try to fix some parts of it administratively that are within my authority while you're not doing anything?" Obama said, directing his comments toward Republicans.

 

We’re Not Just Going To Sit Around And Wait' For Congress To Write Laws

During an interview with MSNBC’s Chuck Todd, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest explained that the Obama administration was getting impatient with Congress. "[W]e’re not just going to sit around and wait interminably for Congress," he explained. "We’ve been waiting a year already. The president has tasked his Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson with reviewing what options are available to the president, what is at his disposal using his executive authority to try to address some of the problems that have been created by our broken immigration system."
