They are a necessary safety feature, (they help harbor pilots guide boats through the channel) and the Port of Corpus Christi intends to install them at the port's expense and receive reimbursement from the Coast Guard. A St. Louis County police officer was shot and killed in the pre-dawn hours of Thursday morning shortly after arriving at a reported domestic disturbance. The suspect was shot and remains in critical condition.
