In reviewing data on gun violence, there are facts and then there are emotional responses divorced from facts. Often the gun debate is driven by emotional response to stop the violence and logical assumptions that don’t match the facts just as more guns produces more violence. Zoe Lofgren, (D-CA), Beto O’Rourke, (D-TX), Justin Amash (R-MI) and Iintroduced the USA RIGHTS Act, which reforms a sweeping, secretive government spying program to protect the Constitutional rights of Americans, while giving intelligence agencies authority to target foreign terrorists, criminals and other overseas intelligence targets. I am working with my colleagues in the House to secure all necessary federal dollars for Texas to help our region rebuild following Hurricane Harvey. This week, the Senate passed the second disaster supplemental appropriations bill that passed the House on October 12.
