Perry/Palin Rally Provides More Than a Glimpse of the Future
Then Governor Perry and former Governor Palin approached the stage from the crowd shaking hands and sharing hugs. Mrs. Palin and her daughter, Piper, were very much a favorite among girls and ladies at the large function. Governor Perry spoke from the stage, moving about comfortably and not using the lectern (or a teleprompter) to address the enthusiastic crowd. He spoke of the successes Texas has enjoyed regarding economic measures despite the recession the rest of the nation presently faces. Mrs. Palin was then handed the microphone and she spoke from the lectern using prepared notes but speaking comfortably and casually with the audience who also enthusiastically applauded her comments, her jokes and her other witticisms. Among her comments Mrs. Palin mentioned that Texans and Alaskans have much in common like their great appreciation of the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and their fierce sense of self reliance. Mrs. Palin asserted “…we all are proud we cling to our guns and religion…” paraphrasing and denouncing Barack Obama’s pitiful campaign statement in 2008. It is no secret that Mrs. Palin is being considered for a Republican Presidential ticket in 2012 and Governor Perry, already the longest serving Governor in Texas history, is ahead in the polls for re-election. But more importantly, perhaps, was that TexasGOPvote.com contributor, Fernando Treviño, was there with several friends from Texas A& M University to meet the featured speakers and with my help, met Chairwoman of the Republican Party of Texas, Cathie Adams. We spoke about the importance of recruiting more and more young people to the Republican Party and the importance of the Latino vote as well. Clearly, this was a look at the next twenty years in only one afternoon. Posted under:

Did you hear the Tankredo Tea
Did you hear the Tankredo Tea Bagger Speech? The GOP's tent has shrunk down to a bunch bitter old white bigots. I don't see Hispanics (or any other minority), youngsters or non-retards flocking to this type of tent.
Furthermore, SP is nothing more than a profiteering simpleton with a flock of like-minded imbeciles. She has done a very good job of cashing in on her five minutes but anyone who thinks she has anyone's interests at heart besides her own has a severe mental deficit.
With all due respect
Also, in case you can't tell I'm Hispanic! Most of my friends are also Hispanic, and all but very few consider themselves CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS. I know that might be a scary thought, but when you actually take the time to talk to us, most of us agree with the values and platform of the Republican Party, and we know that Mr. Tancredo does NOT speak on behave of the party. We can all agree to disagree with Mr. Tancredo's remarks because we are bigger than that and we acknowledge that the PRI (liberal party in Mexico) destroyed our homeland for a cenutry and the PAN (conservative party) have recently come in to power this decade and there is a rising middle class.
Like I said, get out of your bubble and you'll see that there are young people flocking to the GOP, there are Hispanics, and most of us know that Mr. Tancredo is a has-been, former congressman and will never change his point of view...but he does NOT speak for the GOP!
thanks, I needed that
Thanks, Fernando for finally telling it like it is!
I must say that you and people who think and speak like you are truly the last great hope of not only, perhaps the GOP, but of a great people who deserve better than what you have gotten from pandering politicians on both sides of the ideological spectrum.
It is time to take race and ethnicity out of the argument of protecting our borders and fixing the economy. Framing the issue as one of race and bigotry is an insidious ploy by the Left to divide and conquer. We all suffer equally and if we don't stand together in our common American interests, we will all fail separately and America will not survive.
Common Sense's Comment
It isn't every day that one runs into someone with the sort of majestic mental clarity and command of persuasive rhetoric that you have. Thanks for clearing things up for me. Silly ol' me, had this Palin thing all wrong. Just because she quickly rocketed from mom to city council to mayor to governor to US VP candidate in a few short years is really no indication that she had anything on the ball.
I mean just because she cleaned up an entrenched and corporately corrupted Republican establishment in Alaska, some chased and others prosecuted, and brought international oil companies to heel in a profit-sharing plan for their leasing rights, doesn't tell us anything.
Boy, she had all of them, the Alaskan population that made her the most popular governor in the nation, then millions of Americans and me, bamboozled with her simplicity...until I came across your manifest wisdom. Silly me. Can I have your phone number so I can call you to help keep me from falling into other such silly delusions?
How much did you have to study to get so smart? And, I thought I knew something from reading the great thinkers of Western history. But, your wise words make them all shrink by comparison. I can only sit here with my jaw agape. How can I ever thank you?
Larry,
