Obama Thinks Iran has Right to Nuclear Energy

“So let it be written, so let it be done.”

I have no idea what Pharaoh Ramses II looked like, but he will always have Yul Brenner’s voice in my head.  Pharaoh was the all-powerful God-leader of the Egyptians, the messiah on Earth, as far as the Egyptians were concerned.

One year ago Barack Obama’s campaign was developing a messianic feel.  Indeed, it was lampooned with great effect by a couple of YouTube ads put in play by the McCain campaign.  

Of course, we were told, Barack Obama did not actually believe he was a messiah.  It was all those people inspired by the hope and change he promised!  Hmmm . . .    

After reading this Washington Post article about Obama’s upcoming “speech to the Muslim world," I'm not so sure:

What we want to do is open a dialogue," Obama told the BBC. "You know, there are misapprehensions about the West, on the part of the Muslim world. And, obviously, there are some big misapprehensions about the Muslim world when it comes to those of us in the West.

Question: How does one “dialogue” with 1.5 billion Muslims?  Prayer?  Note that WE are the ones with the BIG “misapprehensions.”  What are those misapprehensions exactly?  

[Obama] said he hoped to deliver the message that democratic values are principles that "they can embrace and affirm."

Question: How exactly can the people of say, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, or even Egypt “embrace and affirm” democratic values?  Hold elections?  Peaceful protests?  Write newspaper editorials?  

Obama added that there is a danger "when the United States, or any country, thinks that we can simply impose these values on another country with a different history and a different culture."

Question: Can you give us an example of when this has happened?  Is Iraq that example?  Are the people of Iraq better off today than they were in 2002?

Pharaoh will not trifle with such silly questions.  When Pharoah speaks, Pharoah will be obeyed.   “So let it be written, so let it be done!”
