Another Arrow in the Quiver

Most Americans agree the borders and ports of entry into the United States of America must be secured. "Secure the Borders" has become the rally cry at Republican, Tea Party and other Conservative gatherings.

With this must agreement, one would think solving the problem would be quite simple. But the reality if far from that. Many tools will be necessary to facilitate securing the borders. Most visible, and seemingly controversial, of these is the border fence. But with funding for this on the rocks, we must look for alternative technologies to improve the effectiveness of our Border Patrol Agents.

One such tool has been being tested in Arizona with much success. High Resolution RADAR and cameras are being combined in SW Arizona at the Barry Goldwater Gunnery Range to create a virtual wall that has effectively closed a 35 mile section of the Arizona border.

Greta van Sustren takes a close look at this program here.

Unfortunately, as this video points out, politics continues to raise its ugly head as the government continues to refuse to carry out its primary responsibility "Providing for the Common Defense".

Today, in an Arizona location not far from the RADAR protected zone, Mexican drug cartels are setting up and maintaining bases of operations strategically located to scout the moves made by law enforcement officials along the Mexican/American border. Fox News provides excellent coverage of this breaking story. It was just last week, American law enforcement all but conceded this territory to the cartels by abandoning the park and banning American citizens from entering the area. Perhaps the government should deploy the above mentioned RADAR technology to this area as they now know, anyone moving inside this park is a criminal.

Further east from there, police in Nogales have been warned by drug cartels to "look the other way" when it comes to enforcing American law. Nogales police chief, Jeffrey Kirkham said the warning came after his officers (while off duty) made a major seizure of marijuana while riding on horseback east of town.

Police Chief Jeffrey Kirkham told FoxNews.com:

"The word was that these particular officers would be targeted if they were ever in that area again and were not on duty and intercepted any drug trafficking. It said they should look the other way."

Our borders are out of control. The lack of effective enforcement or even an attitude of enforcement is completely lacking from the federal government leads to total chaos and anarchy along not only our border areas, but in cities across this nation. If the federal government continues to abdicate its responsibility, states must pick up the slack to protect their citizens!
